As per Tomas’ email below, the announced purchase alliance with Auchan, Dia and Metro - while mighty - is on its own unlikely to have a great impact on margins in the short term.

As announced last year, Casino have teamed up with Auchan, Dia, & Metro to co-ordinate agreements with international suppliers.  It has received international competition approval.

Some analysts are expecting improvement in margins from this new buying powers, but although it should be viewed as a positive it is unlikely to make much impact on overall margins.  This partnership should see improvement in product development for suppliers and help adapt to changing fashions/trends in the consumer markets.
Casino results next Thursday, 14th March .
