Thomas Cook, Flybmi
All,CI am just learning that FLYBMI are ceasing service on their 17 planes, citing in particular Brexit (licenses for internal EU flights), fuel prices and inability fully participate in the EU carbon scheme.
That is bad news for TCG, who’s sale to the airline segment will likely be leapfrogged by a more pressing, as well as more flexible transaction. With Germania already in play in Germany, TCG may be price takers.
Flybmi is a combination of loganair and a subset of BMI, which IAG bought from Lufthansa in 2012. It’s a private company, owned by the Bond brothers.
Not to be confused with Flybe, which is publically owned (for now) but the board have recommended a 1p share offer from a consortium of Virgin/stobart and Cyrus Capital.
