Appointing a non-executive to focus on growing the convenience business whilst looking for a CEO seems an odd priority to us. However, as creditors, we are more interested in a plan that works. Allan Leighton has a vision for getting ASDA back on track and will sit on the CEO’s shoulder. The structure will reduce the pool of candidates for CEO, but ASDA has already struggled to fill the role.
