Morrisons - comment

Bouygues, will want to maintain its infrastructure at the forecourts sold by Morrisons. The suit will likely cost Morrisons something to make it go away, but we expect it to be modest. Bouygues doesn’t want to go to war with MFG given its importance in the UK forecourt business. MFG (the acquirer) plans a massive expansion of its EV Charging infrastructure over the next five years, and Bouygues will want to position itself to win at least part of that business. We expect an agreement that either gives Bouygues first bidding rights or a payment to Bouygues and continued use of its installed infrastructure. Bouygues had already rolled out EV chargers to 260 (of 273 sites) before the sale of the forecourt business. The amount of infrastructure already installed gives the claim some substance, but Morrisons says that Bouygues’ service levels were unacceptable.
